Saturday in the Yard. Good or Bad?

The kitties love to go out in the yard, and I take them out most days, even if only for a few minutes. Sometimes they don't get to go out. They NEVER go out unsupervised. Am I doing this right? Would they be better off if they did not go outside at all? Lemieux cries a lot to go out when she gets bored. Sometimes I worry that they would be better off if they did not even know what outside is. I just want to be a good kitty Mom.

Hi, you are right. We could be twins, I cry alot when I want to go outside to. Our neighborhood is pretty safe and Tigger and I go out. Tigger stays outside 90% of the time, but I stay in most of the day, go out in the evening and always sleep inside with Mom. I know Mom worries, but a cat has to do what this cat does. You sound like a wonderful kitty mom. Have a wonderful Sunday.

Ariel is strictly an indoor cat.Yet we live in a building in the city.
Maybe you can buy a harness and walk your kitty.I would do this only if it's a safe place and I feel you should always watch your kitty.

Well, kitties are safer inside. But we kept insisting until the Food Source finally gave in and started letting us out. He still insists on us all coming inside at night, though.

If they live in a reasonably safe neighborhood, without a lot of traffic, it isn't TOO dangerous.

You could try a harness, if your kitties would accept them. (we wouldn't) Depending upon conditions, you might be able to fence in an area, or buy/build an enclosure so the kitties could get the fresh air without actually being all the way outside.

Good luck.
